Item # SW-215

225 Year Survivor!
c1780 Frence Verge Fusee Silver Pair Cased
"Jn. Ant. e Rey & fils", Paris

Price = $695

SOLD

A small Frence verge fusee in a  silver pair case, by listed and noted maker Jn Ant e Rey & fils of Paris.  Made in the late 18th century, c1780.  The outer case is 43mm in diameter, the inner case is 34mm in diameter, no dents or dings.  Dial is mint with nice ornate hands.  On the dial is signed "Jn Ant e Rey & fils" as is the movement.  Verge escapement movement has a Ruby jewelled double footed pierced and engraved balance cock, with Egyptian pillars.  Diameter of the dial is 33mm, thickness of the case with the crystal is 18mm.  The movement and case are in very good condition, looks great, but the left side of the inner case hinge is broken, needing repair by a silversmith or jeweler.  The dial has a couple of very light hairlines.  The watch is well, running the full length of chain and keeping reasonable time for a verge.  If you like unusual verge watches this is it.  I rarely see them in this nice condition.
