Description: c1750 Verge Fusee Pair Case Calendar Clockwatch Repeater, 18k (possibly 22k, unmarked) Gold Pierced and Engraved Inner Case. Repeating hours on bell inside housing by depressing button embedded in crown. Clockwatch sounds hours on passing and may be silenced by a small lever at the 8 position under the bezel (see pics). An extrorinarily well preserved inner case, movement and dial. Outer case is brass and has underpainted shell (or horn) on back which has a small piece chipped away on the edge (see detailed pics) and missing from the front edging. Dual train verge fusee movement with barrel train for the clockwatch and repeat train. A most remarkable watch from the mid 16th century. A rare find worthy of collecting.
