c1790 "John Ward, London" Verge Fusee

Description: Listed in G.H. Baillie's Watch Makers and Clockmakers of he world, John Ward is shown as working on Fore Street in London from 1784 to 1799. Movement has a double footed pierced and engraved balance cock, verge escapement and chain driven barrel and fusee, signed "John Ward, Fore Street, London". Watch is wound clockwise through the dial. Watch tics and runs but stops, may need a cleaning, oiling or other service, sold as-is in this repect. High domed bulls-eye crystal has a few small edge chips at the 5 to 6 o'clock position, but they are not very noticable as they are for the most part embedded in the seating edge of the bezel. The dial is excellent for a piece this old, porcelain, hand painted enamel with large concentric Arabic numerals, signed "John Ward, London" has a small edge chip at the 9 o'clock position, but no other flaws or hairlines. This is a large watch, ~2.5 inches in diameter, 3.25 inches to the top of the bow. This piece is sold as-is, comes with key and keychain, as shown. Good opportunity to acquire an original verge fusee for a fraction of the price you'd normally have to pay for a double signed timepiece over 200 years old.
