Description: c1886 Elgin 18 size keywind silverode open face pocketwatch. The Elgin watch company was originally called the "National Watch Co.", formed in 1864. You don't see too many of these early Elgins with the original Elgin National Watch Co. dial. Dial has no hairlines or chips, looks to be mint perfect. Matching original blue spade hands. The case is triple hinged, with dust cover, Silverode (nickel), showing average wear, plain polished, with no engraving, inside cover does have some scratches and nicks where the case opens. Movement is gilt, also near mint condition, 15 jewels, keywind from the rear and key set from the front, signed Elgin National Watch Co., Elgin, Ill., serial number 2,016,859. Comes with a key and key chain. I rarely see these early Elgins, take this opportunity to own a piece of Elgin history.
