Ball-Hamilton "999", 18 size, 17 jewel "Official RR Standard" in very good condition. The Ball Watch Co. did not manufacture watches but did help formulate the specifications of watches used for railroad service. Webb C. Ball was the general time inspector for over 125,000 miles of railroad. Case is nickel "Silverode" triple hinged. Dial is signed "TRADE MARK, OFFICIAL RR STANDARD, CLEVELAND" and has some light hairlines, though they are hard to see. Movement is "Adjusted", 17 jewels, saphire pallets, safety pinion, double roller, lever set of course as all Railroads, with gold lettering and circular damaskeening. watch is running great and keeping excellent time. Serial No 458,629 placing it's date of manufacture in c1904, shortly a full 100 years old!
