Here's a nice one, a Ball-Hamilton 999B, 16 size, 21 jewel "Official RR Standard" in very nice condition.  The Ball Watch Co. did not manufacture watches but did help formulate the specifications of watches used for railroad service.  Webb C. Ball was the general time inspector for over 125,000 miles of railroad.  This size 16 railroad watch was produced by Hamilton (note the serial number as marked was only produced by Hamilton).  Case is a signed "BALL Official RR Standard" Keystone, J. Boss 20 year 10k yellow gold filled, with only minor pocket scratches, no initals or other personalization.  Dial is signed "BALL, OFFICIAL RR STANDARD, CLEVELAND" and has one hairline near the 1 (see pictures).  Movement is "Adjusted 6  Positions", 21 jewels, Nickel plates with circular damaskening, gold lettering (very pretty), lever set of course as all Railroads, running great and keeping excellent time.  Looks good, has a couple of scratches near the case screws but otherwise very nice, serial number 1B19866.

BALL MADE SOME OF THE MOST DESIREABLE OF AMERICAN RAILROAD WATCHES.  THIS "OFFICIAL RR STANDARD" BALL, GRADE 999B MADE BY HAMILTON WATCH CO, LANCASTER, PA.  DON'T CONFUSE THIS WITH THE MORE COMMON BALL GRADE 999 ALSO MADE BY HAMILTON.
