1981 Custom Corvette Convertible

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:   Rare 1981 Corvette convertible, and a beautiful car.  This car has been adult owned and pampered.  The convertible conversion is an absolutely excellent job.  Every thing from the frame, fiberglass and the top and sides were professionally done.  Convertible conversion, spoiler  and ground effects package was installed in early 90's. Looks and works just like the older mid-70's convertibles.  This car runs, shifts, starts, brakes and corners excellently.

Exterior:  The body is very good condition, nice and straight but does have some repairs on the ground effects and front spoiler where it was nicked when loaded on a transport vehicle when it was shipped to me.  Paint is good and was done when the car was originally reconditioned in the early 90's, there are some stress cracks showing on the rear deck lid and a couple of places where the paint is chipping  around the key hole on the doors and where the mittors mount on the doors.  Ultimately it could use a paint job if you want it to be show quality, but it is just fine as a daily driver.  The front and rear "Corvette" emblems are new.   The window and door rubber are also new.  White convertible top is still in good condition, though I have kept the top down for the most part while it has been garaged.

Interior:  Completely restored with new black interior including carpet, dash, seatbelts, arm rests, new Grant steering wheel  and leather seat covers, the door panels were dyed because they were in too good shape to replace.  The interior looks virtually new and I have pictures of parts of the restoration showing the entire interior being stripped out including the complete dash assembly, replaced with all new components.  

Drivetrain:  350 CID (5.7L) V8 has a new Edelbrock Carb and newer intake, roller rockers, mild cam and MSD ignition, new MSD wires, plugs and dist cap.  The compression was recently checked and was excellent, engine is strong, no smoke or blow-by at all.  Engine runs well and the automatic transmission shifts smooth.  With new dual 2 ½ inch exhaust  it has that nice deep rich sound that only a Chevrolet V8 engine can give.  New transmission mount, radiator 4 cores, new water pump, heater motor. New starter and battery.  New Exhaust (last week) 2 1/2 pipe, high flow cats and flowmasters delta flow.  Goodyear did a full body and suspension alignment and inspection and there was NO suspension or body damage that they could tell or see.  The front suspension (shocks, brakes, rotors, ball joint, tie rod ends, control arm bushings, springs are newer, done by the previous owner.  Power steering valve and pump have been rebuilt.  Rear suspension has new u-joints and bearings. Car has  new brakes and machined rotors.  Custom rims and tires are also new.  Wipers and headlights work great.  The only thing I know of that doesn't work is the cruise control and the light switch may need attention, as it is sometimes intermittent.

Title Note:  When this car was converted from a coupe to a convertible the original Texas owners title showed that the car is reconditioned. When the previous owner registered the car in Washington State, they marked the title as salvage since Washington State DMV had no category for "reconditioned" available.  The mileage is exempt on the title due to the age of the car.  Unfortunately I cannot verify actual mileage stated on the odometer, but I have a complete title record from AutoCheck since the rebuild and convertible conversion in 1994 and the mileage records are consistent with the mileage stated (see the actual records report after the pictures below).
