SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:  REAL OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF ONE AMERICA'S MOST DISTICTIVE CARS, A BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED 1957 BUICK SPECIAL 4 DOOR SEDAN.

What a beauty!  This low mileage classic was restored and is a real head-turner.  She was part of an estate when I bought her and Everything seems to work fine, I replaced the fuel pump after I got her and that's about all she needed.  Runs and drives great.  Pictures tell the whole story, there is not a scratch on her and the interior is well done, matching the style of the period.  Real chrome wire wheels with Buick center badge.  Don't know that you'll find a nicer car, I was impressed ... the car looks even better in person than it does in the pictures!

1957 Buick Special Specifications and History:  The  1957 Buick Special shared General Motors' B-body with Oldsmobile; their 1957 body-shells were brand new for the model year, though the 122-inch wheelbase carried over from the 1954-1956 Buicks.  Typical of the time, all models stood some 3.5 inches lower overall; with the '57 Special extended 3.4 inches in length over the previous model year to 208.4 inches or 17 feet 4 inches.  All-in-all this gave the '57 Buick a sleek and low slung look.  No identification was placed on its bodysides, only on the front grill and trunk badges.  Replacing the previous year's 322-cubic-inch V-8 was a new-design over-square engine of 364 cid. Horsepower was higher than ever: 250 bhp for Specials, up 30 bhp from 1956.  Engine design highlights included wider carburetor throats, larger and higher-lifting valves, higher-capacity ports and manifolds, a new high-lift camshaft, and a beefed-up crankshaft as well. Other mechanical refinements involved an extra universal joint, which lowered the transmission tunnel, and the adoption of ball-joint front suspension.  Buick was criticised for the 3 piece split rear window, but today it is one of the features which makes the 1957 model year unique and desirable.
