SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:  1932 Hupmobile Speedster

The 1932 Hupmobile marked a change in direction for the company with more attention to styling.  Their beautiful roadster was designed by Raymond Loewy with "form-fitting" fenders, which most people called cycle fenders ar the time and this concept model with a three-piece windshield, which became part of their production line later in 1934 as they atempted more aerodynamic styling. Hupmobile entered the 1932 Indianapolis 500 race with the Hupp Comet and finished fifth.

Three of these marvelous vehicles were made by Hupmobile and this is the only one known to still exist!  After slumping sales resulting from the depression and an earlier reputation for stodgy but sturdy vehicles, Hupmobile wanted to offer vehicles with more style and designed this car to enter the "sports speedster" market similar to Auburn and Packard s of the same era. This low slung, swept rear design is quite impressive and unique and featured a straight eight 103 HP engine with a  two speed rear end.  Vehicle has been restored, ground up, to No. 1 condition.  Recently professionally inspected as such and appraised at a value of $85,000.
