SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:  

1931 STUDEBAKER PRESIDENT STATE SEDAN 90 SERIES.  THIS IS A 7 PASSENGER VEHICLE IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.  RECENTLY PAINTED AND DETAILED, IT HAS THE ORIGINAL INTERIOR WITH ONE SMALL SCUFF IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT.  ALL SIX WIRE WHEELS HAVE BEEN RESTORED, HUBCAPS AND WHEEL RINGS HAVE BEEN REPLATED, CUSTOM MADE CANVAS WHEEL COVERS AND WHEEL MOUNTED REAR VIEW MIRRORS.  8 CYLINDER ENGINE RUNS GREAT BUT COULD USE SOME DETAILING, FREE-WHEELING TRANSMISSION SHIFTS SMOOTHLY, HAS HAD A RECENT MECHANICAL INSPECTION OF ENGINE AND DRIVE TRAIN.  HAS A NEW STAINLESS STEEL EXHAUST SYSTEM (SEE UNDERCARRIAGE PICTURE).

UNFORTUNATELY I SCRAPED THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR FENDER PULLING MY SNOW BLOWER OUT OF THE GARAGE THIS PAST WINTER.  I HAVE SOME SPARE PAINT TO FIX IT, AND I'LL TRY AND GET IT DONE BEFORE THE CAR SHIPS, BUT I CAN'T GUARANTEE IT SINCE I HAD KNEE SURGERY TWO MONHS AGO AND I'M NOT FULLY FUNCTIONAL.

THE 7 PASSENGER PRESIDENT 8 MODEL 90 IS RARELY FOUND FOR SALE AND RELATIVELY FEW OF THESE HAVE SURVIVED.  THE INTERIOR IS EXCELLENT, REAR JUMP SEATS FOLD BEHIND THE FRONT SEAT.  CHROME IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.  OVALOID LIGHTS UNIQUE TO THE 1931 AND 1932  PRESIDENT MODELS.  I ALSO HAVE AN ORIGINAL TRUNK (IN NEED OF PAINT) AND A SET OF TRIPPE LIGHTS (BOTH SOLD SEPARATELY) IF THE BUYER IS INTERESTED.  CLEAN AND RARE, YOU'D BE HARD PRESSED TO FIND A BETTER EXAMPLE.  

All 1931 Studebaker Presidents are accredited as Full Classics by the Classic Car Club of America.

SOME HISTORY:

The Studebaker President was the premier model range for automobiles manufactured by the Studebaker Corporation of South Bend, Indiana (USA) during the 1927-1942 model years. The nameplate was reintroduced in 1955 and used until the end of the 1958 model when the name was retired.

Albert R. Erskine, Studebaker’s President and CEO spared no expense in funding the President series; his intent was to make the Studebaker President the finest automobile on the American road. Presidents produced 1928 and 1933 establish land speed records, some of which went unbroken for ten or more years. In 1931 the make introduced “Ovaloid” headlights which were oblong in shape and made identification of the President easier. Presidents manufactured in this era were considered on par with other, more exclusive marque such as Cadillac, Packard and Chrysler’s Imperial model range.
